Monsieur Turtleton

I needed something motivational and inspirational for my studio. It's part of my whole 'making my life happier, anxiety-free and colourful ' resolution. I was thinking along the lines of a clever slogan or insightful quote as that is quite on trend at the moment. I have never been good with words... actually I take that back, I am pretty awesome at making up kids songs on the spot. I even managed to impress my Mister the other day after belting out a tune I pulled from thin air. So if everything else fails I maybe able to get a spot on Playschool. Anyway where was i going with all of this...ahh that's right... I managed a little print with my little Monsieur Turtleton. Okay so it's not quite insightful but it is FUN!

P I S C E S

- Pisces -
Ok. Relax. Breath. So I am working pretty hard here to write this post! I have a little munchkin who has just started crawling/bunny hopping and it is none stop! If she isn't kicking at the library ladder, crumpling my beautiful cartridge paper, chewing on Daddy's computer cables, eating my favourite recipe; she is trying to get at my ornaments, find the stairs or empty the waste paper basket.
At the top of my 'To Do List' this week is 1. Baby proof the home.  But not everything can be baby proof.

I am lucky that my little munchie-face sleeps at night but the pay off is (and I know I wouldn't want it the other way round) is that she doesn't sleep much during the day. This makes getting any work done very hard. I just need an extra hour in the morning and an hour in the arvo to work without feeling like I'm neglecting her.

So for all you Mummys working from home out there - any suggestions of how to occupy a 6 month old, so you can get a little work done? I am very interested to hear what the rest of you do :D

Signing off to get a little work/play/entertaining/multi-tasking done! LOL Happy Monday lovelies!! xo

Jack & Jill or two kids about to slip'n'slide? hmmm...

Indi The Elephant

I am pretty pleased with my productivity today. I managed to knock off a bit of freelance, get started on Skyla's Christmas stocking and then pump out this little illustration. This is the elephant I spoke about in the last post. I was going to make a pattern out of him but it ended up a picture. I'm not sure if I got the background right, so I will have to look at it for a bit. But for now I will let you be the judge! :D

The Circus is on its way...

Roll up...roll up... The Circus is coming to town. This was so much FUN to do! It was hard to decide what characters to use and which ones I needed to leave out. I did an interesting elephant which I didn't end up using but I might save it for another illustration. I'm also going to try and simplify this illustration and use it in a pattern. What do you think?

Little Bo-Peep

Hi Bloggies! What a busy week it's been with Halloween and a public holiday (in Victoria) for the Melbourne Cup. I usually do pretty well with the horses. This year I backed a horse named Illo. I'm always shortening illustration to illo and thought it was a SIGN! Well the horse came second last - BOOoooo!!! I wonder how many other illustrators out there made the same mistake!
Speaking of illos, I'm doing a series of illustrations based on Nursery Rhymes & Fairytales. Yesterday I worked on 'Little Bo-Peep' and at the moment I'm working on 'Jack & Jill'. I am so enthralled with this current project - more to come soon! xx

Spring Cleaned House

I did a massive Spring clean today (haven't finished yet) and even did some maintenance in the garden! All with a picnic in the middle with Mothers Group and a baby going through a growth spurt. I'm sharing this because I am pretty impressed with myself :D However, I would like to be doing creative things. I have had such a strong urge to make things and redecorate the house. I have been mucking around on the computer, buying up nice fabrics but have been struggling to get enough time to really get into anything or know where to start! On my to do list - pictures, a bunting & another cushion for the nursery, Christmas stocking & decorations and bedding for Skyla's dolls cradle.
I had a play around with some bright, cheerful SPRING colours!

Happy Land!

I am trying to finish off artwork for the walls in the nursery. I decided to do a vector version of one of the illustrations I did in the exhibition last year. I added in a little extra detail and used ice creamy colours which will tie in with the rest of the colours in the nursery.
I think it turned out rather sweet xx

A is for Alphabet Poster

I had been itching to do an Alphabet Poster for ages but wanted to do something a little different. So I decided to do a fairytale and mythical creature alphabet to scare the pants off little kiddies :P

Enviro Kids

Today I am posting my Enviro Kids illustrations. I did them a while ago for no particular reason and have never actually done anything with them. I wanted to do more but just never got around to doing it. Maybe they could become a poster one day.

My Neglected Etsy

The last 12 months have been pretty busy and my Etsy shop has been sadly neglected.  I have been in "vacation mode" for the last year and unfortunately not due to some long, exotic holiday.  I do hope to get right back into it and I have a few projects in the pipeline. But for now I will leave you with a few of the illustrations that were sold in my shop.

Mmmm....pie

Today is day one. Yes, I have decided to stick my finger in the global design pie. I have had so much joy and inspiration from the many blogs out there, why not join the fun and take you on a blogging journey of what creatively inspires me!
As there is so much to share, I might just start with a little purchase I made today. I have had my eye on this gorgeous Portabellopixie sewing pattern by  Sandi Henderson for a while and now it's mine. You can visit her lovely website which also includes fabrics, free projects and a sewing school here.
